SUSS-Nunchi Marine Age Well Programme: Masako Wakamiya’s Inspiring Journey and Launch of the LION Portal
At 87 years young, Ms Masako Wakamiya has defied age-related stereotypes by developing an app aimed at empowering seniors through technology. She was hosted by Dr Kelvin Tan (PhD) from Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) and the Nunchi Marine Age Well Programme.
The event kicked off with a lively drumming performance by seniors from ASPIRE55, followed by the launch of the LION Portal (Lifecourse in Online Narratives), a platform designed to help seniors share their rich and varied life experiences through compelling narratives.
Though Masako-san comes across as a demure and soft-spoken lady, her presence is larger than life. Her enthusiasm for technology and her unwavering commitment to enhancing the lives of seniors is both inspiring and infectious.
Her journey serves as a powerful reminder that it’s never too late to pursue one’s passions and make a positive impact on the world around us.
