Another year of our waterway’s cleanup initiative – this time with People’s Association’s Kayak N Klean programme. Really grateful for the colleagues who took time out to be part of it.
A few reflections from the day:
1. Singapore may be small, but it holds remarkable biodiversity, from mangroves to coastal ecosystems that support a wide range of marine life and bird species. These habitats are rich, delicate and worth protecting.
2. A sobering reminder: microplastics have been found in many types of seafood globally, meaning marine pollution doesn’t stay in the ocean – it eventually makes its way back to us.
3. Today’s haul: 5kg of waste collected.
Top 3 items found: foam pieces, plastic bags and cigarette butts. Powerful reminders of everyday habits and their ripple effects.
Grateful for the team’s energy and shared purpose on the water today. Here’s to cleaner waters and stronger awareness – one paddle at a time.
